Apex is an Appalachian Basin based company with a focus on proven Marcellus horizontal well development along with Utica upside potential. The Company has amassed a highly enviable acreage position in Southwestern Pennsylvania. 

In 2013, Apex Energy formed a strategic partnership with affiliates of Apollo Global Management, LLC (NYSE: APO). The initial objective of the partnership was to invest in oil and gas properties in the Appalachia Basin, with a primary focus on the Marcellus shale.

Apex, headquartered outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has an executive management team led by Mark Rothenberg, Chief Executive Officer. Mark's career started as a petroleum engineer with Amoco Corporation working on various projects throughout the United States. Over the years he has worked on some of the most prolific unconventional natural gas and oil projects in the country. He relocated to Pittsburgh during the initial stages of the Marcellus Shale exploration programs.

The rest of the Apex team is made of a combination of local and relocated professionals. The local professionals have spent their entire career in the Appalachia Basin. They bring an important understanding of the local environment and valuable expertise in this rich and historic basin. Apex has also relocated professionals, bringing with them a wealth of knowledge and experience from other shale and unconventional reservoirs located throughout the United States.
